Our Mission : To reduce the impact of chronic disease on the Northern Territory population by facilitating a united approach on areas of common interest through advocacy, active collaboration, the encouragement of prevention and the formation of strategic alliances.
2019 Strategic Goals
1. Advocate for strategic and committed and long term investment and evidence based Public Health policy
2. Actively contribute to the Chronic Conditions Prevention and Management Strategy
3. Facilitate the promotion of common health messages
4. Health Education in Schools
ADVOCATE FOR STRATEGIC AND COMMITTED AND LONG TERM INVESTMENT AND EVIDENCE BASED PUBLIC HEALTH POLICY.
ACTIVELY CONTRIBUTE TO THE CHRONIC CONDITIONS PREVENTION AND MANAGEMENT STRATEGY
FACILITATE THE PROMOTION OF COMMON HEALTH MESSAGES
Represent the broad interests of non government chronic disease organisations in dealings with Government.
Develop and implement an evidence based strategic advocacy plan focusing on agreed common issues such as :
Raise awareness of the impact of chronic disease and the work of GHANT members to key government decision makers and the broader public.
Meet regularly with varying levels of government.
Develop and present agreed positions for consideration of CCPMS.
Maintain an overview of current and developing process and practices in the management of chronic disease
Encourage the development of emerging innovative prevention initiatives to reduce the incidence and impact of chronic disease.
Participate in all meetings, consultations and reviews of the CCPMS
Generate key messages about smoking, food/nutrition, physical activity and health checks for use with consumers and Government.
Through the development of strategic alliances, partnerships and projects.
